I think Impact could eventually be the tool for me, IF Presonus continues to support it with updates.

Current sounds can only be download via the Steinberg Download Assistant. :imp: I’ve installed fresh Windows and all muy steinberg software for 3 times now and getting the same frustrating results. Older downloads are available directly on this page. Midi is simply too convoluted to use, and I was spending too much time making templates for my DAW(s), and not actually programming it, to use it that way. Below you can find a list of sound content (libraries, expansions) that can be added to different Steinberg applications.

On the only other Steinberg plugin I can run as standalone (Halion) the pull-down menu on the top left lists all available drivers - Groove Agent only shows Not Connected.

You can load existing MIDI files and you can record your own files and save them. In the meantime Groove Agent 4 will run as standalone but I am unable to connect it to the audio system of my computer. You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Groove Machine, Shiny Groove - the best player for Grooveshark or Drum Beats+ Groove Machine & Rhythm Metronome, which might be related to Groove Agent. The scratch pad allows you to record and play back MIDI files in Standard MIDI File format. You can use Groove Agent independently from a host application. There are a number of workarounds depending on the DAW you're using it with, but overall, I find myself pillaging the samples to load elsewhere, or rendering my patterns to audio to use in S1. Using the Standalone Version of the Plug-in. Again, there's a lot to like (the sample library alone is worth the price of admission), but unless you're using it with Ableton Live, it can be a pain to integrate with most DAW's. Steinberg Groove Agent 5 is a virtual drum workstation that combines a library of high-quality acoustic drums, electronic drums, and percussion organized in 130 kits with over 1000 MIDI grooves played by top drummers. Impact is just missing the mark when you compare the two. The new Impact is a great step in the right direction, and I would be turning cartwheels for it if Propellerheads hadn't released Drum Sequencer for Reason 10 a few weeks before S1v4 dropped. Long time Battery user here, and I love it.
